Supporting academic freedom and resilience is a key part of the GHEA21 mission. As authoritarian takeovers and war disrupt lives and universities, and as academic freedom comes under assault, GHEA21 works to provide networked and institutional responses.
GHEA21 is committed to academic freedom and the defense of threatened scholars, who have lost their academic positions or had to flee their home countries due to persecution for their views or identities. Threatened scholars are integrated in the scholarly and cultural life of their GHEA21 institution and the broader GHEA21 community.
With forty-three outlets and over two million documents available through the archive, RIMA is preserving the last two decades of independent Russian journalism and serves as a model of what can be done in countries undergoing drastic political change.
The Archive preserves the invaluable work of independent Central American journalists, in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama, who document critical events and fight for truth amidst authoritarian threats.
